Kobe University Held International Symposium at the National Chengchi University in Taiwan

On Nov. 8, Kobe University’s Center for Asian Studies at the Institute of Promoting International Collaboration Programs and the Graduate School of Law jointly held an international symposium titled A Dialogue Toward Collaboration Between Taiwanese Law and Japanese Law in the 21st Century at the National Chengchi University in Taipei City. Among the participants from Kobe University were Professor INOUE Noriyuki, Executive Vice President in charge of International Collaboration; Professor SAITO Akira, Director of the Center for Asian Studies at the Institute of Promoting International Collaboration Programs; and Professor SAKURABA Ryoko and Associate Professor ONO Hiroshi, Graduate School of Law.

Four themes were chosen for the workshop: labor law, reception of law, sports law, and civil law.

Each theme was shared with two researchers from each university, and they gave separate presentations. Differences in the Japanese and Taiwanese legal systems in the specified fields were identified, and an active discussion took place among participants and the audience.

On the day prior to the workshop, delegates led by Executive Vice President Inoue visited National Chengchi University and met with Vice President LIN Bih-jaw. Executive Vice President Inoue conveyed his appreciation for concluding the inter-university agreement in April of this year, and they exchanged opinions about further advancing academic and student exchanges through the promotion of faculty exchange.

It is expected that the two universities will further deepen exchanges among faculties and students.
