Privacy Policy of Kobe University Brussels European Centre

Kobe University Brussels European Centre (KUBEC) was established with the aim of promoting international collaboration between Kobe University and universities and research institutes in Europe in the fields of Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Bio-Medical Sciences.

You may have already heard about the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This regulation offers an increased level of privacy protection and became effective as of 25 May, 2018. In order to comply with the new GDPR standard, we describe your new rights in relation to the processing of your data.


Data Controller

All management of KUBEC including the website and its mail address are conducted by Kobe University in Japan. The collected data is sent directly to Kobe University’s system server and stored in Japan. Kobe University manages the collected data following proper procedures as part of its responsibilities.

The Information We Collect

Kobe University collects/uses your personal data including your name, position, organization and e-mail address for registration when you attend its activities and in order to send you its newsletter and information about KUBEC events. Kobe University may use the collected data to investigate or address claims or disputes relating to your use of KUBEC mailing list services, or as otherwise allowed by applicable law, or as requested by regulators, government entities, and official inquiries.

Information Retention and Deletion

a) The collected data is stored as long as KUBEC activities continue in Europe. Kobe University is obliged to destroy all collected data on the day of KUBEC’s closure in accordance with proper procedures at Kobe University

b) You can always request a withdrawal of your consent to the data usage at any time by KUBEC by sending an e-mail to intl-kobe_u_bxl@office.kobe-u.ac.jp, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Objections and Complaints

Registrants have the right to lodge complaints with a supervisory authority if it is considered that a data subject’s rights under this Regulation have been infringed as a result of the processing of personal data.

You can at any time unsubscribe from our newsletter with an e-mail to intl-kobe_u_bxl@office.kobe-u.ac.jp to express your intention for unsubscription. If you would like to change your registered information, please send your modified data in Mailing List Registration Form including your consent to the KUBEC data privacy policy outlined above.
