2022年11月1日（火）に「The 2nd KULOS Symposium ‘Ocean Research and its Application for a Sustainable Society’（第2回KULOSシンポジウム: 持続可能な社会における海洋研究とその応用）」を米国ワシントン州シアトルで開催します。

神戸大学は、2020年4月に本学の米国本土における初の拠点として、兵庫県ワシントン州事務所内に神戸大学シアトル拠点（Kobe University Liaison Office in Seattle＝略称KULOS）を開設しました。シアトル拠点は、兵庫県とワシントン州の友好・姉妹提携並びに神戸市とシアトル市との姉妹都市提携を背景に、様々なレベルの学生を対象にしたグローバル教育活動はもちろんのこと、本学教員・研究者主催による多様な研究領域の国際シンポジウム・ワークショップ開催の「場」を提供するなどして、本学の教育研究のグローバル化推進に寄与していくことを目的としています。

第2回となる今回のシンポジウムでは、ワシントン大学及びシアトルを拠点とする企業Maritime Blue社の協力を得て海洋研究に関する様々な発表、ディスカッションを行います。

また、ネットワーキングランチをシンポジウム直前に開催します。本ネットワーキングランチでは、神戸市とシアトル市の姉妹都市提携が65周年を迎えるにあたり、在シアトル総領事、神戸市長とともに、在米日本企業、シアトル周辺の米企業、在米本学卒業生、ワシントン大学や近隣諸大学の関係者など、属性の異なる方々にお集まりいただきます。この催しは、今後の研究、産学連携などに役立てるためのネットワークを構築していただくために企画するものです。シンポジウムまたはネットワーキングランチどちらか一方のみのご参加も可能です。
