On October 22, 2015, Kobe University, with the cooperation of the Jagiellonian University, established Kobe University Liaison Office in Kraków within the Centre for Comparative Studies of Civilisations at the Jagiellonian University. The Office has been jointly managed by the Graduate Schools of Humanities and Intercultural Studies since 2023. The Office is located in one of the buildings of Jagiellonian University in the old downtown. Founded in 1364, Jagiellonian University is the oldest university in Poland, and is a prestigious institution where Nikolaus Copernicus, the proponent of the geocentric theory, and Pope John Paul II studied. Kraków is an ancient Polish city with a long history, and has nurtured a beautiful urban culture based on the tradition.
