About the Program

Kobe University Gender Equality Office applied for the FY 2018 Program to Support the Development of Human Resources in Science and Technology; the Initiative for Realizing Diversity in the Research Environment (Advanced type) and our initiative has been adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Objectives

(1) Reach and maintain employment rate of over 30% with a final goal of 33% by the final fiscal year, 2022

  • Aiming to reach over 30 % women employment rate by FY2020, the third year of the program; 33% by FY2022, the final year

(2) Improve career progression/promotion rate

  • Strengthening international collaborative research through the PI system to improve the promotion rate of women faculty

(3) Expand support for the next generation of early-career researchers

  • Training both women and men early-career researchers through overseas dispatch programs and the International Human Resource Exchange Program
  • Setting a quota for women researchers in the Early-career Researcher Long-term Dispatch System

(4) Enhance the diversity environment and expand it beyond the university

  • Establishing the structures and systems for continuous diversity promotion inside and outside the university
  • Setting up a Diversity Fund to ensure the continuity of the program
