The reasons for our selection
The Gender Equality Committee, Graduate School of Health Science, is the only committee promoting gender equality at Kobe University. The committee has been continuously active since it was formed.
The graduate School of Health Science has a high percentage of female students and teaching staff, more than 50% female, but the percentage of professors is only about 20%. The committee is working to address the relatively low number of professors on staff, and at the same time, working the problem of child-rearing for all staff at the Graduate School of Health Science.
The Gender Equality Committee, Graduate School of Health Science, is the only committee promoting gender equality at Kobe University. And the committee continues to work hard to see that the ideas of gender equality are put into practice.
So this is why we feel this is a suitable group for the award.
