EU Debate Club "History of Europe(part 1): The Roman Empire" was held on 23 December.

On 23 December 2020 ,6participants joined the EU Debate Club to discuss about the influence of Ancient Rome on Europe. The meeting was held through ZOOM from 12:20 to 13:10 and was structured as follows:

1.We introduced the myth at the origin of Rome and its meaning
2.We discussed the evolution of the institutions of Ancient Rome
3.We discussed the main wars and the geopolitical strategies of the Roman Empire
4.We discussed the influence of Rome in terms of culture and law
5.We concluded the meeting with the influence of Ancient Rome in terms of filmography. For example, we talked about the Japanese movie "Thermae Romae" that was inspired by a Japanese manga. This led to the discussion of similarities and differences between Roman thermal baths and Japanese onsen.

This historical topic was requested by one of the participants. Based on the interest of the participants we may discussed in future other aspects of the European history and its influence on the rest of the world.
